While questing in Kun-Lai Summit, the northern zone for Pandaria, I came across something I should have expected. A "Great Wall" you might say, called the "Serpent's Spine". It happens to be located directly adjacent to a mountain range that resembles the Himalayas. In fact there's one particular mountain called, "Neverest". Does that sound vaguely familiar to you?
I've been questing continuously and managed to finish two zones to completion in Pandaria, The Jade Forest and Valley of the Four Winds. The first thing I must say is that questing has vastly improved. Quests are finally more integrated into the storyline through impressive cinematics and a well thought out plot. I truly appreciate the effort Blizzard put into streamlining the questing process. Not just through story telling but by including quest markers on the map. That is a godsend, I cannot tell you. Not to mention smoother, straight forward quests and a check for each storyline you complete. Finally, questing is actually pleasurable.
Yesterday I decided to create a Pandaren Monk just to try it out and see how I liked it. Probably the most interesting thing about Pandarens is that they're not faction oriented. All of the other races are either Alliance or Horde but Pandarens are by nature peaceful pacifists. So when you're introduced to the Pandaren starting zone everyone is the same like one big, happy family.
Pandaria is full of very recognizable geographical features and architecture. I suppose the great thing about WoW (World of Warcraft) is that when they release a new expansion you cannot initially use your mount to fly on the new continent. I'm glad you can't fly, it gives you the opportunity to appreciate the amazing scenery like an adventurer exploring new land.
Today is the official release day for the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria. I stayed up last night with my partner waiting for the moment the expansion would be available digitally, 1 a.m. our time. It was very exciting. It was the busiest I've ever seen our server. People were literally waiting around Stormwind (Alliance capital city). There was so much buzz about what to expect. Then when it came time, everyone flocked to Pandaria, the new continent. The funniest part was since it was so busy there was a time when everyone was stacked on top of each other for a particular quest so we couldn't see anything, it was just a flurry of random shooting.
I've played a couple of quests and thought I'd give my first impression. The cinematic cut scenes are a nice touch but my favourite part (spoilers ahoy) is the ride on the gunship to Pandaria. I love the gunships. Once there you are deployed into a full scale assault on the Horde. This was of course, classic. The Alliance and Horde are two different factions who have harboured an intense animosity for years.
I guess my only real reservation about the game is that it's a little bit racist. It features Pandas living on an island in Chinese structures, wearing stereotypical garb. I suppose it's not necessarily insulting but I guess that also depends on who you are and what you find offensive. Despite the obvious stereotypes, it appears to be an excellent expansion. I'm looking forward to leveling up to 90. If you play World of Warcraft on the Nathrezim server, look me up! My name is Naraya. Anyway, I hope to see you there!
Mists of Pandaria is being released midnight on September 25! I hope you're ready to create your own Pandaren Monk and explore Pandaria. Of course you shouldn't neglect your main character, you'll need to level up from 85 to 90 in order to collect gear from new dungeons and raids.
I'm excited to explore the new area since I've been everywhere else in Azeroth. I'm especially excited since this will be my first time playing a new World of Warcraft expansion at its release. I've prepped for the game by finishing all the quests. It would have earned me Loremaster before the Patch but now Pandaria has been added to the achievement!
I will be blogging about Mists of Pandaria this week. I hope you enjoy! For all you non-gamers out there or maybe just non-Blizzard gamers, I hope my insight helps you understand what the game is all about. I play for fun and sometimes it helps me relax.
You'll never believe it. I hardly believe it myself. I received an e-mail from someone calling me a troll! I laughed so hard! I took it as a compliment but honestly it would be an offense to real trolls. They were talking about a tweet I made saying R J Ellory got mad at me. Well, he did. Whether you read it that way or not, I could tell he was angry. Maybe it wasn't even about what I said, maybe it was about what happened since he's been shamed in public. I think he was just trying to take his feelings out on someone he could easily access instead of the people he was really angry at. Anyway, the "person" said I was being dishonest and nasty because apparently he was very sweet to me. I laughed again! He was? To be honest, the only person who would even have bothered to send that message was R J Ellory. It was the same style of writing and they didn't identify themselves, something that's become a moniker for Ellory. Whoever it was hid behind veiled insults. Sounds like a troll if you ask me. Anyway, I thought it was too funny. For those of you who need a good laugh, click on the link below.
Remember: If you love someone, you must let them go. It's an example of true love. You care so much about someone all that matters to you is their happiness even if it's not with you. If you try to make them stay you'll both feel guilty and it means you don't truly love them. Either way they'll find a way to leave, whether it's emotionally or physically. You can't make someone love you. Letting go may be difficult since there's a danger they'll never return but that's okay, it means it wasn't meant to be. They'll find happiness and so will you, with or without them. Happiness is being you.
My dreams have gotten so strange lately and I'm remembering them with such an intense frequency that I find myself writing them down. I try to write them down as much as possible. Then I try to make sense of them. Not always an easy thing to do. Sometimes I find myself a little baffled but always amazed. I love amazing, lucid dreams. They make you want to sleep, which is a big deal for me since I'm an insomniac.
The dreams are very similar. At first everything is very normal, as though I'm awake then something surprising happens. A giant catastrophe! Some sort of terrible event takes control of the entire dream and forces me into wild circumstances. I'm forced to cope with the situation by relying on my inner strength to guide me. There's usually some fighting and tense conflicts until everything slowly appears to be working out for the better. Then I wake up. I never get to see if it actually works out.
I think that just by reading this most people would make inferences about what it all means. I've left out an awful lot of details but I believe it's important to examine the bigger picture. Either way, I'm a BAMF!
I had an eye appointment today, it's actually the first one in four years! I can't believe I waited that long, well, actually I can. I just kept rationalizing with myself that it wasn't time yet. The glasses I've been wearing have attracted so many compliments, I was a little afraid I would never have such an attractive pair again. As anyone who wears glasses knows, they're important to you. They become a part of you. In fact my partner requested that I get a similar pair. I do love them but it couldn't wait any longer. The lenses are so severely scratched I can't see my computer monitor clearly anymore. Which is a big issue since I work with a computer all day long.
So I did something I've never done. First, through a little research I found a new optometrist. Then I booked an appointment. That was fairly exciting. The receptionist I spoke with on the phone asked for my birthday, I said October 9th and she exclaimed that it was her birthday too! What a strange coincidence! It seemed to be a good sign. I went in today and met with the optometrist. She was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. When she took my glasses to test the strength, she immediately asked how I could possibly see through them. It was bad. Apparently it was difficult to get a strength reading off of them too.
Everything went very well. My prescription has changed only slightly, which is great news and for the very time, I bought myself 2 pairs of glasses and on top of that, 1 pair of prescription sunglasses! Oh my goodness! It's very exciting. I can't wait to get them. This time I've gotten very bold, exciting colours. A vibrant emerald green frame and a very pale blue frame. The sunglasses are a brilliant purple. They're all very colourful. I was looking at another pair of sunglasses but they were much more muted. They were safer. I guess I was tired of being so safe with a black pair of glasses.
When I get them in I might post some photos. We'll see!
Ahoy! It's that time of year again! Are you all ready to talk like a pirate? If you're not, I recommend visiting the official site of Talk Like A Pirate Day. They'll give you some pointers like using the lingo in different languages and links to name generators to get a pirate name. Some of my generated pirate names are: Captain Grace Rackham, Keeper Aetheflaed the Cutthroat, Pirate Deb the Pink, Iron Charity and Hook Handed Sarah.
For the rest of this post I will be talking like a pirate and using my pirate name, Captain Grace Rackham.
Avast, me hearties! I'll be doing this smartly so pay attention or I'll give you a taste of the cap'n's daughter. Cap'n Rackham has a code of conduct on her ship:
1. Cap'n Rackham always be right.
2. Cap'n Rackham gives no quarter to land lubbers, so they best be on their way 'less they be wantin' to walk the plank to visit Davy Jones' locker! Arrr!
3. And more importantly, Cap'n Rackham always be right.
Pass me the grog, you bilge rat and let's drink to me ship, the Crimson Curse. She be a fine ship. I'll keelhaul any scurvy dog that says different! Arrr. Weigh anchor and blow me down! Cap'n Rackham be headin' to her cabin to see me beauty lad.
